Actually the new games are starting to make more use of the quad-core, but the main reason I consider going for it is because gaming isn't the only thing I do. I use programs like flash a lot and I heard quad cores do those things a lot faster. I don't know how good e8400 would be, but right now im using a core2 duo at 1.8ghz and it takes like 30 seconds just to open flash :-s
